Example No.1: Vitalmoves, UK, budget: £ 1200

… serves as a perfect sample of my way of working. The client, Deborah, wanted the video representation of her therapeutic offer for personalised movement-based retreats to be as authentic as possible. So, we arranged to film an actual therapy session. Having a background as a therapist myself I have empathy for the delicacy and intimacy of such a session. The mere presence of a camera is intimidating and always alters our behavior. We tend to become self-conscious and feel vulnerable. In a wee self-created ceremony we all met and shared to get to know each other on a deeper level. To introduce the camera as a gentle eye to witness the beauty of Deborah’s work. This ensured mutual trust and respect.

Additionally I supported and coached Deborah within two interview shoots to distil the essence of her message and to refine her presentation skills in front of the camera. The atmosphere of a dress rehearsal during the first interview allows for a relaxed alertness with space for curiosity, spontaneity and playfulness. All mistakes are welcome as best indicators for improvement. On the second shoot most insecurities were gone and the outcome speaks for itself.

Example No.2: Dance Walking Moray, UK; budget: £ 500

… splendid sunshine, an interview with the client by the Pier and two days of excited editing resulted in this video.

Event Videos

Example No.1: I Hear a Call, UK, budget: £ 3000

I hear a Call is a spin-off project out of the New Story Summit 2014. Chris Taylor fulfilled his dream of gathering changemakers for a weekend in Cumbria to explore new narratives for humanity. His incentive was to create a documentary about it. In the emerging process we constantly tuned in together what the appropriate approach is and we were both surprised where we were guided to. In his words: “What we found is a poem.”

Example No.2: Psychophonetics, UK, budget: £ 600

This was a spontaneous collaboration with Yehuda Tagar. His mastery of the anthroposophic Psychophonetics system and the fact of his visit to Findhorn spurted a documentation of his full presentation and an extended Teaser/Intro video which you can watch here:

Example No.3: CCS Conference Video, Findhorn, UK, budget: £800

… CO-CREATIVE SPIRITUALITY CONFERENCE in Findhorn in 2018. A good example for the costs being much higher than the rule-of-thumb due to additional costs for narration and extended editing working on an hourly basis.

Music Videos

No.1: OUT OF TOWN by Cal Motto-Ross, South Africa, budget: special arrangement

On my journey through Botswana and South Africa I made friends with music producer Howard Butcher and songwriter talent Cal Motto-Ross. With Howard as an excellent wilderness guide we found most stunning locations to film OUT OF TOWN and ELIAS with the merest of equipment (DSLR camera and tripod). The compensation was food and accommodation at Peace of Eden.

No.2: DESAFINADO by Elias Ngidi, South Africa, budget: special arrangement

… jazz genius Elias Ngidi from the townships of South Africa, who happened to be around at the same time we were producing OUT OF TOWN. What a delight to see a master at play with the merest of equipment (DSLR camera and tripod). The compensation was food and accommodation at Peace of Eden.

No.3: IT'S SO HARD by Mad Jack, Germany, budget: special arrangement

… from the 90s of MAD JACK I drummed and texted for. During a music video shooting for BAD DAD directed by Ian Moore, Yenna and me had such a wild and enthused time in our Dance of the Sexes before the green screen that I had to use this footage as well. It beautifully jams with the aggressive note of the song, doesn’t it.

No.4: MR. NORMAL by Charles Thompson, Scotland, MovingPicts

… a dozen local film makers and video editing (MovingPicts) and music enthusiasts came together in a barn to create a more sophisticated production using cranes and dollies, probs and costumes. A joyful time of playful film making as it used to be.
